Press Operator

SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, work with dies assembly and inspection to assist in the development of dies by offering the knowledge and experience of a press operator in addition to operating presses by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Set up dies, presses, and auxiliary equipment to produce quality products.
  • Work with die assembly and quality control.
  • Organize, package, and inspect parts.
  • Operate machinery such as a crane, fork truck and presses.
  • Inspect critical dimensions on stamped parts during production.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Oberg safety and security procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for 10 hours/day and must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds with control. The employee must be able to raise arms above shoulders and maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to stoop or kneel for excessive periods of time. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment. The employee must be able to travel between departments and divisions, and domestic and international travel is occasionally required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently around large industrial machinery, and the employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts that create a moderately high noise level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have the ability and interpersonal skills to successfully work as a team member to obtain desired results.
  • Must be able to understand and apply work-related documents such as operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to understand and perform to job-related quality standards, methods, usage of inspection devices and reporting as required.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Must be a U. S. citizen or be able to comply with U. S. export regulations.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must be able to locate, diagnose and correct problems in equipment and systems utilizing test equipment and/or prior work experience.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Under normal business conditions, must be able to work 50 hours per week, however, schedule will be adjusted according to business and operational needs.
  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship program is preferred or must obtain Oberg Journey worker Certificate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
